| Kay listened to his father and grandfather talk almost on the verge of arguing. Why did his father have to be so difficult? He thought to himself as he lay on the couch. The way his dad was going on it sounded like he got him from a bar fight.. Not nearly been killed, which felt odd. After everything that happened how can he act like it was a mere annoyance.
The teen turned an eye back to his grandfather for a moment before looking back up at the ceiling.."Alright I guess.. It just hurts to walk on for now." he said with a sigh. He paused for a moment and looks towards the master bedroom. "Almost jealous of how normal he seems" he said before closing his eyes not being able to fight it anymore and sleep took him on that thought.

| Several hours later found Finlay’s wounds cleaned and bandaged, the man himself dressed in clean clothes and sitting cross-legged on the floor beside the couch. Robert filled him in on everything he knew about what had transpired for Kayden. There was no word from any of the McKenna siblings, but it was confirmed that their mother was no longer amongst the living. Now that Fin was out of danger, calmed down, and had taken the time to truly reflect on everything that happened, it seemed as though the world and everything in it had fallen apart.
Finlay’s elbows rested on his knees. Knuckles from his interlaced fingers gently pressed on his upper lip as he watched his son sleep. Thoughts raced through his mind. Brown eyes looked to make sure Robert was out of earshot. Sure enough, the old man was at the stove putting something together for the three of them to eat. Fin returned his focus to watching the sleeping teen.
He swiped the back of his hand across his good eye. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there when you needed me, Kay...” Fin murmured.

| Kay had been so tired he didn't even have dreams it was just darkness in his sleep, a deep darkness that a part of him wanted to say in but for a reason that he didn't know the darkness broke up and he heard his Dads voice.
Sleepy eyes blinked opened and a blurry image of his dad came into view, for a moment he didn't remember all that happen and he was confused why he was in his dads appartment, however what still remained of his fathers injures were plain on his face and he remembered all that happened.
Kay groaned and just wanted to go back to sleep but it refused to come. So he sat up, not really know what to say to his dad now that he was here. "Hey dad.." he said his voice cracked and dry. He suddenly noticed how thirsty he felt.

| Finlay sat up a little straighter as his son stirred, then uncrossed his legs and stood up as Kayden sat up. “Hey...” he replied, and sat next to his son. He reached over to the coffee table for an open bottle of water, unscrewed the cap, and handed it to Kayden. “Here. Have as much as ya want. Olivia went and bought loads of bottled water for going to the gym, before she got sick...” Fin gently put his other arm around Kay’s shoulders.
How could he even begin to talk about all that had happened? It was also entirely possible that Kayden didn’t want to talk about it at all. Finlay hadn’t been there when Miranda died... who knows what happened to their family dog, Yoshi... not to mention the hell the teenager had clearly been through to have injured his leg so badly. Fin couldn’t help but think that if he had been there, perhaps things would have been different. But instead he was getting Olivia to a hospital, ultimately watching her succumb to the virus... then flying like a bat out of hell from the hospital and into the territory of bandits that had already started taking over the neighboring areas. He should have been there for his son, if nothing else... Finlay didn’t need the memory of Miranda’s voice telling him he’d let his son down yet again – he already knew it – but he could hear it loud and clear.
“I’m here if... if you need or want to talk about anything, son...” Finlay offered.
